Change of adjudicator

The advertised adjudicator of the 2010 City of Hobart Eisteddfod Vocal classes, Andrew Dalton, has had to cancel his visit for medical reasons.

Replacing him will be Adele Johnston who comes to us having recently adjudicated at the Sydney Eisteddfod. Adele is a versatile artist and an experienced vocal teacher and adjudicator. For further information, go to Adele’s Biography.

NEWS

Program available
The program for the 2010 Eisteddfod is on sale at McCann’s Music Centre and MacFie Music. Also available at the door. $8.00. To find out immediately when you are performing, the Schedule by Category and Session shows your class number. All sessions are held in the Town Hall except Large Instrumental Groups (Federation Concert Hall, 7 July) and Choral (Hobart City Hall 12-13 July).

New Awards and Sponsors
Since the printing of the syllabus, the generosity of sponsors has enabled the Eisteddfod Society to offer these new awards:

  • PIANOFORTE
    The Frances Underwood Prize for Musicianship. For the performer who, as well as displaying technical proficiency, demonstrates deep musical understanding, in the performance of two or more works, age taken to account.  $100
  • VOCAL
    The Vasiliki Koukias Memorial Award $500: for full details, see Open Class 1421.
  • CHORAL
    The Frances Underwood Trophy and $100 Award for the best performance of a work by an Australian composer, age taken into account.
  • INSTRUMENTAL GROUPS
    The Eisteddfod Committee thanks Mr Tony Patiniotis for his sponsorship of the $200 Award for the most successful school group.
